Medication in the academy
Prescription Medication:
Where a child needs prescription medication in the Academy, we must have a completed form with all medication details, giving us permission to administer the medication. The most common forms of prescription medication required in the Academy are inhalers, Epi-pens and eczema cream.
We also have an emergency Epi-pen and inhaler stored within the Academy. These are for use by pupils with diagnosed asthma or who already have a prescribed Epi-pen for severe allergies. You will need to provide permission for their use.
To find out more about how we support pupils with specific medical needs at IFPT, please view the 'Supporting Pupils in School with Medical Conditions' policy, here.
It is essential that your child's medical condition records on Arbor are up to date. It is parent/carer responsibility to ensure that these records are correct and that the Academy is informed of all medical conditions.
Antibiotics prescribed three times a day, should be taken at home. For example, in the morning, after-school and in the evening. We only accept antibiotics in the Academy that are prescribed four times a day. Any short-term medication such as this will need to be signed in and out by a parent/carer each day.
What you need to do if your child has required medication:
- Download and fill in the form below or collect a paper copy from the Academy office
- Bring the medication and the form into the Academy office in it's original box with the prescription label on
- We will then check it against the form, have it signed off by a senior member of staff and store it securely
Non-Prescription Medication:
For any non-prescription items such as hand cream, you will need to complete the Non Prescription Medication Form
This includes items such as:
- Hand cream
- Pain relief
- Lip salve
- Suncream
